FAQ

About D'Heritage

Who operates D'Heritage?

D'Heritage is the trading name of José Henrique Pinho Gonçalves, sole trader, NIF 190862122, at Rua Nossa Sr.ª da Conceição, 358, 3720-263 Vila de Cucujães, Oliveira de Azeméis, Portugal. The brand was created in 2026 and is run day to day by Diogo Gonçalves.

Is D'Heritage the same company that opened in 1974?

No. A family garment workshop opened in Vila de Cucujães in October 1974 and closed in 2024. D'Heritage is a brand created in 2026. It works with many of the same makers, but it is a separate business and we do not describe it as a continuation.

Who makes your garments?

Partner workshops in Braga, Guimarães and Oliveira de Azeméis. We do not own a factory.

Orders and made-to-order pieces

What does “made to order” mean on a product page?

The piece is cut and assembled by our partner workshop after you place the order, and we confirm your delivery date by email as soon as your piece enters production. You are charged at the time of the order and your place in the production run is reserved.

Can I cancel a made-to-order piece?

Yes, as long as it has not yet entered production. Write to geral@dheritage.pt and we will refund you in full, using the original payment method. Once a personalised piece (custom fit, monogram, initials) has been started, the 14-day right of withdrawal no longer applies.

Will I be told when my order ships?

Yes. You receive a dispatch confirmation with a DPD tracking number.

Shipping

How long does delivery take?

In-stock orders are dispatched the next business day after payment is confirmed. Mainland Portugal: 1-3 business days. Madeira, the Azores and mainland Spain: 2-5 business days. France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium: 5-9 business days. Rest of Europe and rest of world: 5-9 business days. Leather pieces are made to order and require additional production time before dispatch.

When is shipping free?

Mainland Portugal, Madeira, the Azores and mainland Spain: orders from €125. Spanish islands, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium: from €150. Rest of Europe: from €175. Brazil, Canada, the United States and rest of world: from €250.

Who is your carrier?

We ship worldwide via DPD.

Will I pay customs duties?

Orders shipped outside the European Union may be subject to customs duties and local taxes, which are the responsibility of the recipient.

Returns and exchanges

How long do I have to return an item?

You have 14 days from delivery to withdraw from the contract, without giving a reason. Notify us at geral@dheritage.pt within that period; you then have a further 14 days to send the piece back. It must be unused, with all tags intact and in its original packaging.

Who pays for return shipping?

On a standard withdrawal, the direct cost of returning the item is borne by the customer. If the piece is defective or does not match your order, we cover every cost.

Can I exchange for another size or colour?

Yes, within 14 days of delivery. Shipping costs for exchanges are covered by D’Heritage.

When will I be refunded?

Within 14 days of us receiving notice of your decision, using the same payment method you used to pay.

Sizing

How do I choose my size?

Every product page carries its own size guide, with the measurements of that garment, not body measurements, in centimetres and inches. Manufacturing tolerance is ±1 cm.

What if I am between sizes?

Shirts and blouses: take the smaller size. Trousers: take the larger size. For anything else, write to geral@dheritage.pt with your usual size and we will tell you which piece fits you. We would rather answer a question than process a return.

Does linen shrink?

Our linen is pre-treated to limit shrinkage, but linen is a natural fibre and a small amount of movement after the first wash is normal. Wash cool, do not tumble dry, and the piece stays true to size.

Aviation uniforms

Do you supply flight schools and airlines?

Yes. We make pilot shirts in three constructions, in men's and women's cuts, and we supply flight schools, airlines, charter and handling operators, maintenance organisations, aeroclubs and aviation associations.

Can you develop a uniform garment that is not in the catalogue?

Yes. You choose the fabric, the construction, the cut and the marking, and we handle development, sampling and production with our partner workshops.

What is the smallest order you take?

We take orders from a single crew upwards. Bespoke development has its own minimums, which depend on the garment and the fabric, and we tell you what they are before you commit to anything.

How long does an aviation order take?

It depends on whether you are ordering from catalogue or developing something new, and on the quantity. We confirm a date in writing before production begins, and we do not start without your approval of a sample.

How do I ask for a quotation?

Write to aviation@dheritage.pt. Aviation enquiries have their own address, so they do not sit behind general correspondence. See our aviation uniforms page for the full range.

Materials and care

What is your linen?

100% linen, 155 g/m². Fibre sourced in Belgium, dyed in Spain, made and finished in Portugal. Buttons, labels and packaging are Portuguese. Our linen bags and hat use a heavier 330 g/m² cloth of the same fibre.

What is your cotton?

Organic cotton, 190 g/m², with a brushed peach-skin finish. The yarn is spun in Turkey; weaving, dyeing and making are Portuguese. Our caps use a heavier 260 g/m² cotton.

Will linen crease?

Yes. That is how the fibre behaves and it is not a fault. If you want a garment that looks pressed all day, linen is the wrong choice.

How do I care for linen?

Machine wash on a delicate cycle below 30 °C. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry. Iron cool or dry clean. Unwashed linen feels structured at first; the fibre relaxes with wear.

Is your leather vegetable tanned?

Yes. Our leather goods are made in vegetable-tanned leather by specialist makers in Portugal. Vegetable-tanned leather darkens with use, most visibly where it is handled, so the piece will not stay the colour it is in the photograph.

How do I care for leather?

Wipe with a soft dry cloth and nourish regularly with a suitable cream. Store away from prolonged damp and direct sunlight. Over time the leather develops a patina unique to each piece.

Payment

Which payment methods do you accept?

MB WAY, Multibanco reference, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. All payments are encrypted and we never have access to your full card details.
